Details of task:

Choose a major incident to report on (below are some examples of incidents you may use). Make sure to choose something that has a large body of research available to assist in your analysis. I recommend doing some quick searches on your chosen incident before writing or settling on a choice.

You are required to write a 3000-word critical analysis of your chosen incident answering the 2 sections/questions below:

1. You are required to provide a critical analysis of the notification, response and recovery of the major incident using supporting literature to create/support your argument. This does not mean summarizing or restating the facts. You are required to provide a critical analysis of the information/details.
2. Once you have completed your analysis, you are required to make 1 or more recommendations for the relevant authorities. Your recommendations should be based on the findings and analysis from part 1. These recommendations must be justified using supportive literature.

In your response include: how would these recommendations help to shape the response to future major incidents in the community. If your recommendations have already been put in place then comment on the extent to which the recommendations have been enacted? If your recommendations have not been enacted then what change (if any) has occurred?

• Provide a brief description of the event detailing:
• Unique circumstances surrounding the event
• The initial notification and response to the event by agencies involved
• The flow on health effects that occurred from the initial event including the recovery phase post the event
• Critical analysis of the notification, response and recovery of the major incident:

• Recommendation:
• Provide a description of your recommendations including a description of how this may help to shape future responses/preparedness to major incidents.
• Outline whether these recommendations have been enacted and to what extent
