Choose a brand, research and examine their current Marketing Strategy and develop future innovative approaches by critically applying new strategies for their Marketing, Design and Communications.

1.Choose a brand/product or service to research.

2.Undertake your own research offering a critical and theoretically informed analysis of the marketing processes and outcomes in relation to your chosen topic.

3.Your choice of brand/product or service can be based on personal experience, or that which satisfies your course interests or wider professional interests.

4.The assignment should culminate in a written presentation with a proposal for future changes and actions to the brand/product or service you have chosen in relation to their current marketing strategy.

Dissecting the Brief

  1. Choose a brand
    • Choose a brand that you know or that you have an interest in
    • Think about why you have chosen to examine the brand that you have
    • Avoid big brands like Apple, Samsung, Coca-Cola for example, as there is already a wealth of material on these brands which will make it more difficult for you to find an original angle
    • Try and find original and unique brands that are interesting to investigate.

2.Your presentation

    • Your assignment should culminate in a written presentation with a proposal for future changes and actions to the brand/product or service you have chosen in relation to their marketing strategy.
    • You need to pay particular attention to the layout and graphic style of the presentation ensuring that it communicates professionally and effectively. (there is no official word count for this but follow the guidance of 8-10 slides)

3.Reflective writing task ( 300-500 words)

    • Your reflective writing task is an opportunity to write about your experience – what you have learned, what you discovered, how it made you feel, what you did, what you might do next time…
