Gibbs Reflective Model Explained

The Gibbs Reflective Cycle is one of the most widely applied reflective frameworks in the field of healthcare, psychology, nursing, and education. This framework was developed by Graham Gibbs in the year 1988, and it helps individuals to present reflection in a systematic way regarding their experiences for improving future practice (Beldar, 2025). However, it is also critiqued that this model can result in offering repetitive data if it is applied in a frequent manner (Sundgren et al., 2021). Despite this limitation of this model, it is one of the most accessible tools for reflective writing, which is widely used by students and healthcare professionals.
